Dear Friends, Yesterday I received a phone call from a supporter, who is also a lawyer, she told me that the company who is cutting and chipping the trees are turning the chute that spews out the wood chips and directing it at the tree sitters. This very dangerous to the people that are in the trees, these machines have warnings on them for operators to stand at least 300 feet away from the machine while it is operation. Witnesses have said that a plastic jug that was hanging in the trees was punctured by these chips. Witnesses complained to the police that were there guarding the machinery and they could have cared less whether anyone gets hurt or not. MNDOT will ultimately be responsible if someone is injured by this practice, as these are contractors that have been hired by the State Transportation Dept.. I urge you to call and voice your complaints about this very dangerous practice, please call 651-296-3000.
